I found a very useful post on perfectly stretchy page background images using CSS. Normally this is done with a negative z-indexed flash layer, but this method does away with that. Get the full details on CSS Tricks: Perfect Full Page Background Image.

Crazy Egg: Base your UI Design decisions on measurable stats.

Crazy Egg extends your standard analytical software (I use google analytics like most of you out there). It allows you to visualise the behaviour of your traffic on any particular page or set of pages, and make UI design decisions accordingly. This is also pretty darn useful if you are trying to convince your client to go with a certain design or show them that they need a Design and Usability overhaul.

Here’s a working demo.

Galleriffic: JQuery Image Rotator

This is what I consider to be the best JQuery Gallery/Image Rotator available, its simple to install and easy to customise. You can either use it as a gallery or as an A feature slider on your homepage.

The only thing that I’d change is allow the developer to choose whether or not to use #hashtag deep linking, i.e. the URL changes to http://url/#imagenumber. Currently this is compulsory, and causes a little “clicking” noise in evil IE6.

Here’s an advanced example.
